1) What is the r-value of your insulated concrete forms?

R-value is a measure of how well insulation will resist the flow of heat. Higher R-values means greater insulating ability, which means greater house hold energy savings and greater cost savings.

The r-value per inch of VARIANTHOUSE forms is: 4.708

So the following applies to our forms:

9.8 inch form has an r-value of 18.8
13.7 inch form has an r-value of 37.6
17.7 inch form has an r-value of 56.4

These values are for VARIANTHOUSE material only. The values do not take into consideration thermal mass nor finishes applied to our forms.

2) How are windows installed?

Windows can be easily installed using VARIANTHOUSE insulated concrete forms. Simply insert a slide (OC) into our forms where the window will be placed. The slides are used to restrict the flow of concrete around areas such as windows and doors. After the concrete has been poured and cured for 3-5 days, place the window into desired opening and screw the frame directly into our forms. The same can be done for doors.

3) How do I pour the concrete using the VARIANTHOUSE system?

There are many ways to pour the concrete into our forms. After stacking the forms to approximately five feet in height you are ready to pour. Start at a corner of the structure and pour the concrete in about 2 foot lifts throughout the entire structure. When finished pouring the first lift, simply repeat until the entire structure is filled with concrete.

4) How do I attach stucco or drywall to your system?

Drywall can easily be secured to our system by inserting drywall screws directly into the exposed plastic ties on our insulated concrete forms.

Stucco can be applied to a lath which would be attached to our forms in the same manner as the drywall.  After the lath has been attached to our forms, the stucco can be applied directly to the lath. A dryvit system can also be used.
